I am a mother of four children of various ages, the youngest an early teen. I am also a wife, daughter, sister, cousin, friend. I am a yoga practitioner and a new(ish) yoga teacher, as well as a sometimes adjunct English instructor. I don’t imagine this space being devoted to any one of these things; in other words, I will not add “yoga blogger” to my list of “I ams.” Rather, I envision this blog as a housecleaning project designed to clear out the questions, observations, rumination, bits of wisdom gleaned, as well as the nagging worries that bounce and swirl and keep me up at night. I WILL tame my monkey mind and become more peaceful. And it is better to write than it is to drink myself into oblivion. Although I cannot promise I will never write with a glass of wine at the ready, I can promise that I will try to never ONLY be a navel-gazer.
I love words. I love contemplating issues both large and small, felicitous and agitating. I believe that the pursuit of engagement and discussion matters, and I want to speak with a (hopefully) clear voice on the idea of meaning. Sometimes I will consider meaning more personally, and sometimes I will consider it through the lens of family, community, culture, and so on up the ladder. This will be a continued exploration of minutia and how it reflects upward and outward – the little moments that mean everything.
